The fee is a percentage of the participant reward pool, added on top when you publish a study: 33% as standard, or 23% for verified academic and non-profit organisations. The fee for places nobody takes is returned to your balance. Bonuses carry the same fee as their study's rewards, charged when you pay the bonus. VAT is added to the fee where it applies.
No. Participants never pay to take part. Their published reward is kept separate from the platform fee so you can see exactly where your budget goes.

Universities and other academic institutions, charities and public-sector bodies, once we have verified the organisation. The workspace owner must use an email address on the organisation's own domain, not a personal address such as Gmail or Outlook. Commercial organisations and independent researchers pay the standard rate. If you only have a personal address, contact support for a manual review.
